Patuakhali’s Bauphal Upazila Awami League politics, many of those who played the role of sacrificer in the Trinamool party’s troubles, known in the area as dedicated lives, are no longer alive. Those who are alive are facing death due to humiliation and deprivation. Recently, such a picture has emerged in the death of several tyagi leaders at the grassroots of Bauphal Awami League.
Notable among them are former vice-president of Upazila Awami League Nurul Haque Mridha, former president of Kalishuri Union Awami League Gias Uddin Mridha, former president of Kalishuri Union Awami League Golam Mustafa Talukdar, former treasurer of Upazila Awami League and president of Dashpara Union Awami League, and union Several times UP Chairman Alhaj Nuru Mohammad alias Nuru Miah, Joint General Secretary of Upazila Awami League and former Chairman of Dhulia Union Parishad Chunnu Miah, Vice-President of Upazila Awami League Advocate unuch Miah, Ex-President of Baga Union Awami League Nabi Ali Mridha, Vier Muktijodha, Upazila Awami League vice-president Purna Chandra Majumder.
All those renegade leaders were cornered by intrusive opportunistic hybrids, humiliated and suffocated to death. It has even been alleged that party MP Asam Feroze did not show any sympathy to all those activists. Besides, there are many devoted and dedicated leaders of Bangabandhu’s Krishak League, the organ of Awami League in Bauphal, who worked as Kandari during the difficulties of Awami League. Notable among them were Barek Shikdar, Ali Ahmed Howladar of Nazirpur Union, among those who are alive are SM Yusuf, Mahabub Master, Barek Chowkidar. Even though the party is currently in power, they are not valued by the main party. Rather, they have turned their backs on the party after being humiliated and deprived.
In this regard, the former general secretary of Krishak League, Advocate Khandkar Shamsul Haque Reza said, ‘I could not give anything to those leaders from the party.
