Returning Officer Mohammad Belayet Hossain Chowdhury privately declared him elected at Advocate Tarek Smriti Auditorium of the city’s Town Hall at around 11:15 pm on Saturday (March 9). Titu won the crown for the second time in a row.
According to the declared results of 128 centers in 33 wards of the city, Ekramul Haque Titu got 1 lakh 39 thousand 604 votes in the symbol of the table clock. On the contrary, the candidate of elephant symbol Sadekul Haque Khan Milki Toju got 35 thousand 763 votes, Ehteshamul Alam got 10 thousand 773 votes in horse symbol, Rezaul Haque got 1 thousand 1487 votes in deer symbol and Shahidul Islam Swapan got 1 thousand 321 votes in plow symbol.
Earlier, polling was held in 128 centers in 33 wards of the city from 8 am to 4 pm. Voters vote to choose their mayor and councilor candidates. For the second time this election of the twelfth city corporation of the country has created a festive atmosphere.
