 Muladi, Hijla and Mehendiganj are three upazilas surrounded by rivers in Barisal district. The people of these three upazilas have ferries, trawlers and speedboats to cross the river. However, to cross by ferry, the passengers have to sit according to the hour. Trawlers and speedboats charge extra. If you protest, you will be physically assaulted by the local syndicate. As a result, the people of the three upazilas are suffering endlessly. But the suffering will be eased soon. A bridge is going to be constructed over the Arial Khan river. Meanwhile, the Mirganj bridge construction project proposal has been sent to DPP with recommendations to the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges. The project is named as “Mirganj Bridge Construction Project over Arial Khan River at eight km of Rahmatpur-Babuganj-Muladi-Hijla Highway (Z8034). When the news of the realization of the long cherished dream of those three upazilas spread everywhere, everyone regardless of party expressed their wishes and congratulations to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. In a working meeting of Muladi Upazila Awami League, the district Awami League president Alhaj Abul Hasanat Abdullah MP, the public representatives and political leaders of three upazilas demanded the construction of a bridge in Mirganj. At that time he (Abul Hasanat Abdullah) promised to take necessary measures to build the bridge. According to that, with the tireless efforts and planning of Abul Hasanat Abdullah MP, the Mirganj bridge construction project proposal has been sent to DPP with the recommendation of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges. Now only three upazila residents are waiting for the bridge construction work to start. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Barisal Awami League Guardian Abul Hasanat Abdullah expressed deep gratitude to MP. Awami League leaders and activists of Muladi, Hijla and Mehendiganj. In a letter dated September 19 signed by Syed Moinul Hasan, currently in charge of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, the project length is 6157 meters in the proposed DPP. Among them, the approach is 4473 meters, the main bridge is 544 meters, the viaduct is 1140 meters, the estimated cost is about 16 billion taka and the implementation period is proposed from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2028.
