This is a very enjoyable part of my teaching life.” Mr. Pradeep Saha, a teacher in the Department of Fine Arts, said, “A natural extension of my journey at Rabindra Maitree University was to participate in the online refresher course (9th refresher course) organized by IQAC on June 10, 2024. This training course was conducted in a synchronous mode from the USA by Dr. Md. Zahurul Islam. The most impactful part of this training was: “Multimedia Learning and Student Engagement.” In this session, he introduced us to the perspective of modern educational theory and the analytical use of multimedia. Robert Ganier’s “Nine Phenomena of Instruction”, John Keller’s “ARCS Model of Motivation” and Richard Mayer’s “Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning”. These theories were not only information-based, but also relevant and effective.”
Expressing his feelings, he added, “I now try to use projectors, animated videos, digital sketches and interactive content in the classroom. The brilliance that I see in the eyes of students now is undoubtedly the result of that new exposure to multimedia. The classroom is no longer just a place for one-way knowledge distribution; it has become a lively, inquiring and curious space. Students are no longer just listeners – they have become active participants. They ask questions, analyze and think about the content at the end of the class.”
