Md. Momtaz Uddin: Prominent political scientist and intellectual Dilara Chowdhury said, “The army has now become our biggest poison boil.” She made this comment while speaking at a recent discussion meeting.
He said that due to the weakening of the country’s democratic institutions and political instability, public concerns have arisen over the role of the army at various times. He also commented that the crisis could deepen in the future if democratic practices and public participation in the governance of the state are not ensured.
Dilara Chowdhury also said that in a democratic state, it is important to ensure the accountability of the elected government and the effectiveness of constitutional institutions. Otherwise, there is a risk of instability within the state.
His statement has sparked widespread discussion and reactions in the political arena and on social media. While various quarters see the matter as a personal opinion, some have also called such statements controversial.
The security of the country lies solely with the people of Bangladesh, otherwise this country will be destroyed, according to political analysts.
