They are the veteran politician BNP’s nominated candidate and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir (rice sheaf), the new generation of young politicians nominated by Jamaat-e-Islami, former central president of Islami Chhatra Shibir Delwar Hossain (scale) and vice-president of the district branch of Islami Andolan Bangladesh Party Khademul Islam (fan) symbol. The main contenders for the vote in this constituency are Mirza Fakhrul Islam of BNP and Delwar Hossain of Jamaat-e-Islami. The constituency consists of 1 Sadar Upazila, 3 Thanas, 22 Unions and 1 Municipality. The number of voters is 555,053. There are 185 polling stations. In Thakurgaon-2 (Baliadangi-Haripur) constituency, 7 veteran and new candidates are in the election field. They are veteran politician Jamaat-e-Islami’s nominated candidate and former district branch Ameer Abdul Hakim (Daripalla), BNP’s nominated candidate and former DAB Secretary General Dr. Abdus Salam (Dhaner Shirs), Jatiya Party’s district branch president Nurun Nahar Begum (Nangal), and Communist Party of Bangladesh’s upazila branch president Shahabuddin Ahmed (Kaste).
