A Bangladeshi domestic worker named Anju Khatun (38) committed suicide in Saudi Arabia.
This suicide incident happened last Saturday (October 7) in Al Jubail city of Saudi Arabia.
The deceased was a resident of Math Andulia Madhpara village of Harinakunda upazila of Anju Jhenaidah district.
According to the information, the domestic worker went to Saudi Arabia on a visa last March. According to the deceased’s passport, his father’s name is Md Usman Mondal, husband Md Zahidul Islam. However, the Bangladeshi mobile number for emergency contact mentioned in his passport was found to be wrong. Because of this, measures have been taken to inform the family of the deceased through the Wage Earners Welfare Board of the Expatriate Welfare Ministry from the Bangladesh Embassy Riyadh.
According to Bangladesh Embassy sources, the local police of Saudi Arabia are investigating whether the death was a suicide or a murder. It is said that it may take at least two weeks for the detailed report to reach the embassy.
The body of the deceased has been kept in the freezer of the local hospital.
