An important stakeholder meeting was held on various projects to be implemented under the ‘Highway Master Plan (HMP)-2040’ under the joint initiative of Pirojpur District Administration and Roads Department. The meeting was organized on Wednesday (April 15) afternoon at the Shaheed Abdur Razzak-Saif Mizan Memorial Conference Room of the Pirojpur Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
State Minister for Housing and Public Works Ahmed Sohel Manjur (MP) was present as the chief guest at the event. In his speech, he said, “This long-term master plan of the government will bring revolutionary changes in the road communication system of Pirojpur. There is no alternative to an improved highway network in building Smart Bangladesh and achieving economic prosperity.”
We will definitely give importance to what our priorities are in the next 5 years. If we work in a way that will reduce public suffering, we will be able to take Pirojpur forward step by step. In the last 20 years, a lot of money has been wasted due to non-performance of roads and highways, LGED or other organizations, due to which we are now having to slow down.
He said, the Honorable Prime Minister told me, “Look, it is not possible to do all the work that has not been done at once, you also understand. However, talk to the public representatives of your area and identify the roads that must be done to reduce public suffering.” I said that some of our road work has already been completed by 60-70 percent, and some bridge work is pending. We will try to complete them.
In his speech, the Honorable State Minister emphasized on the planned development of Pirojpur district, alleviation of public suffering and implementation of projects on a priority basis under the Prime Minister’s instructions.
The meeting was presided over by Pirojpur Deputy Commissioner and learned District Magistrate Abu Sayeed. Pirojpur District Council Administrator Principal Alamgir Hossain, Additional Chief Engineer of Soj Barisal Zone Md. Rezaul Karim, Superintendent Engineer of Barisal Soj, Road Circle Md. Masud Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development and Human Resource Management) and Deputy Director, Local Government, Pirojpur (Additional Responsibility) Mahmudur Rahman Mamun, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Md. Ziaur Rahman, District BNP President Md. Nazrul Islam Khan, Member Secretary Saidul Islam Kismat, senior officials of the Road Department, officials of various government departments, local public representatives, journalists and stakeholders at various levels participated.
The meeting presented various plans for the development, expansion of highways under Pirojpur district and building a sustainable road network by 2040.
The speakers said that if this master plan is implemented, the connectivity of Pirojpur with other districts will be easier, which will play a major role in the development of local business, trade and tourism sectors.
