Its location is 20 kilometers from Chandina Sadar, Comilla district town. 25 km west and south from there is Kailain village. The agram has monuments of history and tradition.

World famous Bengali Pandit Shilabhadra was born in this village. About one and a half thousand years ago. He was a world-renowned Bengali scholar of the seventh century. Shilabhadra was the chancellor of Nalanda University in the Indian state of Bihar. He was considered as the greatest Pandit of India at that time. He served as Acharya of Nalanda University for more than 20 years According to Comilla district history book, Shilabhadra was born in 529 AD in a Brahmin royal family of Kailain village. He died in 654 AD. Historian Shri Kailaschandra Singh called him as ‘the original glory of the entire Bengali race’. World poet Rabindranath Tagore said in his essay ‘The Form of the University’, ‘One more thing on behalf of Bangladesh deserves to be remembered. Hiuen Tsang’s teacher at Nalanda was a Bengali; His name is Shilabhadra. He was the king of a place in Bangladesh, he left the kingdom and came out. Among all those who taught, he alone could explain all the scriptures. ‘Silabhadra is known from the book of the famous Chinese traveler Hiuen Tsang. Hiuen Tsang was a student of Shilabhadra at the ancient Nalanda University.

Hiuen Tsang’s description of Comilla is as follows: Cultivation is regular here. Abundant crops and fruits are grown everywhere. The climate is temperate and the people are polite. People here are industrious, short in height and dark in complexion. They are very studious and work hard enough to get education. Hiuen Sang also mentioned that he saw 35 temples, including 2 big ones, in the Lalmai-Mainamati region of Comilla. He called this place as ‘The City of the University’. As a child, Shilabhadra was deeply interested in the pursuit of knowledge. Until the age of 20, he stayed in the capital or main center of the Samatata state, namely Lalmai-Mainamati; Early education is there. Young Shilabhadra renounced royal honors and opulence and became well-educated in universal education, including Buddhism, traveling to many centers of learning in India in search of greater knowledge. At the age of thirty, he was admitted to Nalanda, India. There he acquired knowledge. In 635 AD, Shilabhadra became the head acharya of Nalanda University. At that time the number of students in Nalanda University was 10 thousand. The number of departments is 100. 1500 teachers, 1500 staff.

Among the professors, Shilabhadra alone had deep knowledge in each of the 100 departments. The real name of Shilabhadra is not known till now. His nephew Buddhabhadra lived with Silabhadra in Nalanda. ‘Arya Buddha Bhumi Vyakhan’ is the only book on Buddhism and philosophy written by Shilabhadra in Tibetan language. Where there are Hindu and Muslim communities living. Village people do not know much about Shilabhadra. Educated seniors know something. No one ever inquired about it. However, the former deputy commissioner of Comilla. Abdul Malek visited Shilabhadra’s birthplace. According to locals, Shilabhadra was born in a lion house. There is a monastery here. It is fragile. But it is not of his time. It is believed to be built by his family three hundred years ago. Ratna Sagar Dighi is a little away from the house. It is claimed to belong to his family. Their demand is to build a library or monument here in his name to keep the memory of Shilabhadra alive. Mihir Kanti Nag, a resident of Kailain village, said, I know that the son of this village was the chancellor of Nalanda University. Not sure what his paternal vita is. However, I think that he was born in the lion house of this village. This village has a lake called Ratna Sagar. Legend has it that the Dighi is named after Shila Bhadra’s mother Ratnavati. I demand to build a monument in this village to keep his memory alive. Dr. wrote a book called ‘Mahasthbir Shilabhadra’ about Pandit Shilabhadra and his time in India. Nisarg Meraj Chowdhury. He said, as far as history is known, his real name is Dante Bhadra. His parents’ names are not known. He was the son of a royal family. He came down the path in search of knowledge. Researcher Advocate Golam Farooq said, Shilabhadra is the name of Bengali pride. In his time no scholar like Shilabhadra was known. More extensive research is needed to spread its knowledge to new generations.
