Police have recovered the hanging body of a schoolgirl named Cynthia Uddin (15) in Laksam, Comilla. The body was recovered from a residential building in front of the municipality on Tuesday (April 21) morning. The incident has caused deep shock and concern in the area.
The deceased Cynthia is a ninth-grade student of Laksam Pilot Girls’ High School. She is the daughter of expatriate Sahab Uddin of Singharia village in Lalmai upazila and teacher Khaleda Akhter.
According to police sources, Cynthia lived with her mother and siblings in a rented house in Laksam municipality with her mother and siblings. After some disagreement over family matters on Monday evening, she stayed in her room. The next morning, the family members called her but did not respond and informed the police station. Later, the police came and recovered her body from the room and took her to the hospital, where the doctor on duty declared her dead.
Maqsud Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Laksam police station, said the body has been recovered and sent to the Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. The real cause of death will be known after the investigation.
Although there is much discussion in the area surrounding the incident, the police say it is not possible to say anything for sure without the autopsy report.
