School student died of snake bite in Brahmanbaria

A school student named Sonia (18) died after being bitten by a poisonous snake in Nabinagar, Brahmanbaria. The incident took place at Madhyapara area of ā€‹ā€‹Bitghar village of Bitghar union of upazila at 8 pm on Saturday (September 16). Deceased Sonia is the daughter of Majnu Khan of that area. Sonia is a 10th class student of Bitghar High School.
Sonia’s father Majnu Mia said that his daughter Sonia was giving mehndi to her hands today as a hobby. While sitting on the sofa, a poisonous snake bit her left leg and Sonia fell unconscious on the ground. Later they took Sonia to Brahmanbaria General Hospital where the doctor on duty declared Sonia dead. Unable to bear the death of his daughter, Majnu Khan burst into tears at the hospital.
Arifuzzaman Himel, a doctor in the emergency department of the hospital, confirmed the death and said that the family members brought Sonia dead to the hospital around 9:30 pm. Sonia’s leg had bite marks of snake teeth. Sonia died after being bitten by a poisonous snake.
