The government of Saudi Arabia has announced to give citizenship to immigrants and the country has also passed a law for this.Ā  Recently, the Saudi Prime Minister and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman approved the law based on the proposal of the country’s interior minister.
Ā The passing of this law was revealed on the official Twitter account of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, citing the Ministry of Interior of Saudi Arabia.
Ā In January this year, the country issued a decree amending Article 8 of the Saudi Citizenship Law, which was approved on March 13.Ā  The amendment said that anyone whose mother is a Saudi citizen and whose father is a foreigner can apply for Saudi citizenship.Ā  But he must be fluent in Arabic.Ā  Conditions imposed include being of good character and behavior and not having a prison record of more than six months.
Many rights activists in the country expressed concern over the reform of the law.Ā  They said this law will become a bigger obstacle for the citizenship of the children of Saudi women.Ā  Currently, the children of any Saudi male residing abroad are granted citizenship without any legal barriers.
Ā It should be noted that in 2021, Saudi Arabia announced to give citizenship to a special talented person from any part of the world.Ā  The country is said to have taken such an initiative as part of making the process of granting citizenship easier.
