The trawler, which sank after being hit by a bulkhead in the Padma river at Lauhjung in Munshiganj, has been recovered. Although some people are still missing in this incident, no body was found in the recovered trawler.
On Sunday (August 6) at around 11:30 am, Bangladesh Navy’s Dhaka region diving officer Lt. Alvi confirmed this information.
He said, the missing persons will be searched for the next 72 hours. The body of the missing could be swept away by the current in the river.
Navy diving team members participated in the rescue operation from Sunday (August 6) morning.
Saida Taapsee Rabeya Lopa, Assistant Director of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said that the Navy’s diving team has joined the rescue operation to search for the missing persons in the case of the sinking of the trawler in Padma river in Munshiganj. In the morning they took part in the expedition.
On Saturday (August 5) afternoon, a picnic trawler collided with a sand bulkhead at Lauhjung in Munshiganj. The trawler sank. Among the 46 passengers in the trawler, eight bodies were recovered after the accident. And 33 people were rescued alive in this incident. Five people are still missing in this incident.
The fire service stopped the rescue operation around 2 am due to adverse weather conditions due to heavy rain. The rescue operation was started again from this morning.
