Rajapur Thana Independence Day celebrated in Jhalkathi

Rajapur Thana of Jhalkathi was liberated from the invaders on November 23, 1971. Two local freedom fighters named Abdur Razzak and Hussain Ali were martyred in that day’s battle. Also, at least twenty freedom fighters were injured in the battle. As a result of the immense bravery of the freedom fighters, Rajapur was the first in the region to be freed from the enemy. Rajapur Press Club is celebrating this day every year with due dignity. On the occasion of Rajapur Invaders’ Freedom Day, Rajapur Press Club this year organized a program titled “Story for Liberation among Students” at 1.00 PM on Thursday (November 23) at Rajapur Model Pilot High School in the grounds.

Former president of Rajapur Press Club, Moniruzzaman Khan, was present as the chief guest, and freedom fighter Md. Shah Alam Nannu, in his speech, highlighted various incidents of liberation of Rajapur from Pak invaders among the students. Rajapur Model Pilot High School Senior Teacher Farooq Siddiqui, Rajapur Press Club Present President Md Enamul Hossain Khan, Senior Vice President Md Khalilur Rahman Joint General Secretary Gopal Karmakar, Treasurer Matiur Rahman Mamun, Executive Member Kamrul Hasan Rana and former District Independent Television were present on the occasion. Representative Md Kawsar Hossain, all journalists of Rajapur Press Club, teachers and staff of the school.

Note From the evening of November 22, 1971, the freedom fighters attacked the camp of the Pak invaders, firing started. The brave freedom fighters were forced to surrender to the freedom fighters in the morning of 23 November after a night-long battle with the Pakistani forces. In this, Rajapur Thana of Jhalkathi within Sector 9 of Barisal Division was freed from Pakistani invaders for the first time. The flag of independent Bangladesh was hoisted first in Sector 9 at Rajapur.
