Media Desk: On 23 September 2025 a person was arrested with a private car in a joint operation by RAB-10 and Jatrabari Police Station in a case of robbery and robbery at Dholairpar intersection in the capital. At approximately 20:30 at night, gold trader Md. Al Amin (26), was going to Shanir Akhra on a rented motorcycle from Tantibazar area with four and a half tons of gold ornaments and a shoulder bag with Tk 2,00,000/- in cash. When he reached the Gulistan-to-Shanir Akhra flyover under Jatrabari Police Station, a private car with registration number Dhaka Metro-G-19-7139 suddenly stopped him. Four people in a private car, posing as RAB members, forcibly snatched his shoulder bag and fled towards Dholairpar intersection.
Then, instead of crossing the Dholairpar toll plaza, the gang drove a private car in the opposite direction through the Gulistan-to-Dholairpar flyover and tried to snatch valuables from the driver of the gold merchant’s rented motorcycle. When the motorcycle driver started shouting “robbers”. The crowd nearby rushed to catch one of them and beat him up. Seeing the situation getting out of hand, the other three accomplices fled from there.
Later, based on the information received through a mobile phone, a patrol team of RAB-10 immediately reached the spot and rescued the accused in a seriously injured condition and took him into their custody. When the patrol team of Jatrabari Police Station arrived there, the arrested person, during the joint initial interrogation, identified himself as Md. Monir (50), father- Md. Lutfar Rahman, resident- Jhumjhumpur, Thana- Kotwali, District- Jessore. A private car, 03 belts with RAB written on them, 01 walkie-talkie, 2 pairs of handcuffs and some other equipment were recovered from his custody, which were being used to commit crimes by disguising themselves as RAB members.
There are 13 cases against the arrested accused in different police stations, including drug and fraud cases by impersonating a government official. The arrested accused has been handed over to the concerned police station.
