Under the Hilsa Resource Development and Management Project, a public awareness meeting was held with the fishermen to successfully implement the Hilsa Conservation Campaign 2023.

On Monday (October 9) at 5:00 p.m. in Kacharibari market of No. 5 Baraiya Union of Upazila, under the supervision of MFO Mahmudul Hasan, Mohammad Yasin, Senior Assistant Director of Barisal Divisional Fisheries Directorate, District Fisheries Officer Ripon Kanti Ghosh, Rajapur Upazila Parishad Chairman Md. Moniruzzaman, Upazila spoke. Executive Officer Farhana Yasmin, Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer said Md. Mozammel Haque, No. 5 Baraiya Union Parishad Chairman Mohammad Sahabuddin, Police Station OC Investigation Md. Firoz, UP member local fishermen and dignitaries were present at that time.

It should be noted that during these 22 days announced by the government from October 12 to November 2, hilsa collection, transportation, stocking, marketing, buying and selling and exchange are completely prohibited and punishable across the country. Violators of this law will be punished with rigorous imprisonment for at least 1 year or 2 years or with a fine up to five thousand taka or with both.
