The Psychology Department has achieved the distinction of becoming the champion in the first inter-departmental cricket tournament of Pirojpur University of Science and Technology (PUBST). The Psychology Department defeated the Mathematics Department by 35 runs in a competitive final held at the Pirojpur District Stadium on Wednesday (November 19) morning.
Sheikh Farid, a psychology student, was named the best player of the final and the tournament after performing brilliantly with both bat and ball.
After the match, the university’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam was present as the chief guest and handed over trophies and other prizes to the champion and runner-up teams. Also present at the event were the university’s syndicate member Principal Alamgir Hossain and Registrar Khandaker Hamidur Rahman.
Professor Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam said, “We enjoyed a very excellent and exciting performance. The Honorable Vice Chancellor thanked the players of both teams for giving a competitive match.”
He further said that sports create a cordial relationship among all. He congratulated all the teams participating in the tournament and urged them to continue such events in the future.
Under the direction of Dr. Md. Mosharraf Hossain, Chairman of the University’s Mathematics Department and Convener of the Inter-Departmental Cricket Tournament, teachers, students, officers, and employees enjoyed the final game.
Earlier, the group stage was held with the participation of four teams from four departments of the university. From there, the Psychology and Mathematics departments topped the points list and made it to the finals.
