Md. Shahid Mridha, Dumki Correspondent of Daily Janakantha newspaper has presented news with false information to harm and defame businessmen in Patuakhali. They demanded 2 lakh taka from the two businessmen to release the brother who was detained in jail. On 26th February (Monday), the two businessmen who were victims attended a press conference in Patuakhali District Press Club later in the evening. At that time, Md. Bashir Uddin, the speaker mentioned in the news and local former UP member, was with them.

In a written statement, businessman Md. Qayyum Howladar said, Md. Ziaur Rahman is my business partner. We have been doing business together for 5 years for honesty and trust. At present we have gradually started the brick kiln business following the government regulations. Our company name is “Famous Bricks”. Earlier we were both business partners with Md. Bashir-ul-Alam Gong. The name of the brick kiln there was “Dumki Auto Bricks” and he was the Managing Director. Due to disagreements and various transactions, we settled all business relations and exited in October last year. We still owe some money as an old outstanding of 7 years prior to 2020. Last November, I and Md. Ziaur Rahman prepared a brick kiln called “Famous Bricks” in accordance with government regulations on my ancestral and settled land. On February 25th “Dainik Janakantha” newspaper published a false news under the title “Threat to environment and arable land” giving wrong information about my new business and land related matters. None of the local people quoted in the news gave this statement. Full statement Fabricated and baseless. Journalist Md. Shahid Mridha, Dumki representative of published “Dainik Janakantha” newspaper. He is the brother of my former business partner Md. Bashir-ul-Alam. Currently, Md Bashir-ul-Alam is in jail in a check fraud case. Journalist Md Shahid Mridha has been demanding tk 2 lakhs from us for fraudulently causing financial loss to me and releasing my brother from jail due to previous partnership. Out of anger that we could not afford to pay from our new business, he spread false, fabricated, misleading information against us to harm our business and finances. Which is completely against the principles of journalism.

I and my business partner Md. Ziaur Rahman are very embarrassed for reporting this news containing false and incorrect information. In this, we have suffered personal and social damage.
Therefore, we strongly condemn and protest this journalist and news.

Md. Bashir Uddin, the speaker and local former member of UP who participated in the press conference, said, “I didn’t know anything about the news, but when did I give the speech?” As far as I know they have built their new brick field on their own land. The journalist has published false statements in my name
