Police search night coach in Mathbaria: Two drug dealers arrested with 2005 pieces of Yaba

Pirojpur Correspondent: Police have arrested two drug dealers with 2005 pieces of Yaba after searching a passenger night coach in Mathbaria, Pirojpur. They were arrested by setting up a special check post in the Baheratla bus stand area of ​​the upazila late on June 14 (Sunday).

The arrested are: Md. Manju Howlader (50), son of the deceased A.H. Howlader of Gulishakhali village, ward no. 2 of Holta Gulishakhali union of Mathbaria upazila, and Md. Shipon Howlader (46), son of Eskender Howlader of the same village.

According to police sources, under the direction of Pirojpur District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Manzur Ahmed Siddiqui and under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Md. Ziaur Rahman, Mathbaria Police Station was conducting a special operation against drugs and smuggling.

During the operation, a smart team of police was formed under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police (Mathbaria Circle) Partha Chakraborty, PPM and Mathbaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Rabiul Islam.

Based on secret information, the police came to know that a large consignment of drugs was entering Mathbaria in a night coach named ‘BM Line Paribahan’ leaving from Dhaka or some other route. Based on this information, the police set up a special check post in the Baheratla bus stand area late at night.

When the bus reached the stand, the police searched it. At that time, when the behavior of the two passengers on the bus seemed suspicious, the police searched them thoroughly. Later, 2005 pieces of allegedly intoxicating drugs, Yaba tablets, were recovered from them, which were carefully hidden.

​Mathbaria Police Station said that the process of filing a case against the arrested drug dealers under the Narcotics Control Act is underway.

​Pirojpur District Police said that the district police has always followed the ‘zero tolerance’ policy to eradicate drugs. Pirojpur District Police is working sincerely to bring those involved in any criminal activities including drugs under the law and ensure justice, and this campaign will continue in the future.
