The police arrested four members of the dacoit gang while preparing for the robbery in Madaripur’s Rajair. They were arrested from Rajandri Dwardia area of the upazila on Thursday (September 7) night.
The arrested are Nazrul Islam Sheikh (40) son of Mojibar Sheikh of Nayakandi area of Rajair upazila, Shamim Chowkidar (32) son of deceased Kalam Chowkidar of Barabhatra area of Gopalganj Muksudpur upazila, Sabuj Sheikh (35) son of Mujibar Sheikh of Karikar Para and Siraj Molla son of deceased Barek Molla of Nanikshir area. (38).
According to the police, Rajair Thana police raided a mahogany garden in Rajandri Wardiya area of Rajair Upazila based on secret information that a group of robbers were preparing to commit a robbery. The police raided and arrested four dacoits named Nazrul Islam Sheikh, Shamim Chowkidar, Sabuj Sheikh and Siraj Molla. Meanwhile, an easy bike used in the robbery, Ram Da, Shabal, iron cutting machine were seized from them.
Madaripur District Additional Superintendent of Police Bhaskar Saha said that during the preparation of the robbery, four members of the robbery gang were arrested from Rajouri with indigenous weapons. All of them are members of inter-district bandits and thieves. The arrested dacoit members have been sent to court this afternoon.
