Pirojpur Correspondent: Two people have been killed again in one night in Pirojpur’s Mathbaria upazila within a seven-day interval. The deceased are Sagar (30) and Abdur Rashid (35), residents of Dakshin Amragachia Union of the upazila. The double murder has created extreme anxiety, panic and excitement in the area.
According to local sources, Abdur Rashid, son of the deceased Nur Mohammad, a resident of ward number 4 of Amragachia Union number 8 of the upazila, was called from his house around 11 pm on Saturday. He has been missing since then. On Sunday (May 31), locals informed the police after seeing his body lying in the Maktabkhana area adjacent to Nehalia Madrasa.
On the other hand, the body of Sagar, son of Kalu Mia, a resident of Dakshin Amragachia area of ​​the same union, was also recovered on Sunday morning. He was the father of one child. The news of his death has cast a shadow of grief among the family and relatives.
Locals claim that both the deceased were the main earners of their respective families and one of the family’s main sources of support. The killing of two people on the same night has spread panic in the entire area. However, no definite information has been received yet about the reason for the murder and who is involved in it.
Upon receiving the information, the police visited the scene, recovered the bodies and started an investigation.
In this regard, Additional Superintendent of Police (Mathbaria Circle) Partha Chakraborty, PPM said, “On Sunday, at around 8 am, we received information that a body was lying on the side of the road in the Dakshin Amragachhia area of ​​​​Mathbaria and another body was lying about one and a half kilometers away. As soon as the information was received, the police were sent to the scene. The police went and recovered the two bodies.”
He also said, “Initially, nothing can be said about the reason for the murder. The matter is being investigated seriously. The CID team has been informed for further investigation. It will be possible to uncover the real reason for the murder after the investigation is completed.”
The Additional Superintendent of Police said, “The police are working with utmost professionalism and sincerity to unravel the mystery of the murder and arrest those involved.” Meanwhile, local residents have expressed concern over the series of murders and demanded a speedy unraveling of the mystery of the incident, the arrest of those involved, and exemplary punishment.
