Pirojpur Correspondent: Two days after his disappearance in Bhandaria, Pirojpur, the District Detective Branch (DB) has recovered the body of 5-year-old child Rayyan Mallick in a sack. Four people, including the deceased’s cousin, have been arrested for their involvement in the incident.
According to police sources, Rayyan Mallick, son of Md. Russell Mallick of Uttar Atarkhali village of Bhandaria upazila, went missing on January 25. The child’s mother, Sayeeda Tonvi, filed a general diary (GD) with Bhandaria police station on the same day in this incident. Later, the police took the matter seriously and registered a kidnapping case under the Prevention of Women and Child Abuse Act.
Under the direction of Pirojpur Superintendent of Police Mohammad Manzur Ahmed Siddiqui, District Detective Branch (DB) OC Md. A special team led by Ariful Islam was launched into the investigation. At one stage of the investigation, a mysterious note was found on the balcony of a local mosque. Using modern investigation techniques, the police confirmed that the note was written by the missing Rayyan’s cousin Md. Riyad Mallick (19).
After being arrested, Riyad Mallick confessed to the police that he had done this act at the instigation of his neighbor Md. Saidul Islam in exchange for 20 thousand taka. He left the note on the balcony of the mosque on Saidul’s instructions. Later, based on the information given by Riyad, the police searched the cowshed in front of his house. There, the dead body of child Rayyan was recovered from the haystack in a sack.
The arrested are Md. Riyad Mallick (19) – the main accused Md. Mizan Mallick (42) – Riyad’s father Mosa. Parveen Begum (35) – Riyad’s mother, Md. Saidul Islam (36) – Planner,
At a press conference at 4 pm on Tuesday, Pirojpur District Police Superintendent said,
The main goal of the kidnappers was to demand ransom or satisfy some other grievance. However, it was possible to unravel the mystery of the incident and arrest the accused as soon as possible. Further investigation is underway into this sensational murder and strict legal action will be taken against those involved.
