Rajib Dey special correspondent: The seventh ‘Papertech Expo 2026’ is being held at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) located in Kuril in the capital. Meghna Group, one of the leading companies in the domestic paper sector, is participating in the fair with its innovative products and future prospects.

In an interview during the fair, Meghna Group’s Senior General Manager Mohammad Yasin Alam Bidyut highlighted the current status of the paper industry in Bangladesh and the goals of Meghna Group. He said that although the paper sector in Bangladesh was once completely dependent on imports, international standard paper is now being produced domestically, which is saving the country’s foreign exchange.

He specifically mentioned that Meghna Pulp and Paper Mills Limited is currently producing thermal paper and sublimation paper, which was previously 100 percent imported from abroad. These products have already gained wide recognition in the market and their quality standards have also reached international levels. He expressed hope that with more cooperation from the government, there will be no need to import such paper in the future.

Meghna Group is not only meeting the domestic demand, but is also exporting its products abroad. Yarul Islam Bidyut said that they are currently successfully exporting medium liner, tissue and writing printing paper to China, Sri Lanka, India and Nepal. [

Apart from paper products, Meghna Group’s ‘Fresh Tissue’ has now become the number one brand in the market, he claimed. In addition, their baby diapers and pants have received a huge response in both rural and urban areas.

Bidyut Saheb thanked the fair organizers and said that through such fairs, direct communication opportunities are being created with machine and raw material suppliers from various countries including China and India, which will further enrich the paper sector of Bangladesh.
