Rafiqul Islam Sweet, Pabna Correspondent: A mobile court has sentenced a man to one year in jail and fined him Tk 1 lakh for making fake milk in Bhangura, Pabna. The convicted man, Faruk Hossain (40), is the son of the late A: Gafur Hossain of Singari village in Upazila Sadar.
The convicted Faruk had been making fake milk for a long time using harmful jelly, soybean oil and various ingredients under the guise of a dairy business. On Friday (April 17), based on a secret tip-off, a raid was conducted at the house of Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mizanur Rahman Faruk late at night and 200 liters of (toxic chemical) jelly used as a material for making fake milk were seized and Faruk was arrested. The estimated value of the seized jelly is around Tk 3.5 lakh.
Later, the mobile court judge ordered a fine of one lakh taka and one year of non-commissioned imprisonment for Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mizanur Rahman Faruk. The seized jelly was destroyed in public. Locals said that Faruk had been making fake milk for a long time. He used to supply this fake milk to various famous sealing centers in the country.
