 A team of safe food authorities raided the Muslim market in Mirpur area 12 of the capital. On Wednesday (May 24) around 12:00 noon, they inspected the food items of various shops in the raw material market of Muslim Bazar. The operation was conducted under the leadership of Deputy Director of Safe Food Authority, Abdus Sobhan. After the operation, Abdus Sobhan told reporters that some irregularities were found in selling products in fish and meat shops. Some shopkeepers are selling meat mixed with fish and blood. They are warned not to do this. All traders in that market have been given a 7-day ultimatum to withdraw from selling such products. After 7 days, the campaign will be conducted again. At that time, fines and lawsuits will be filed if irregularities are found. He also said that no shopkeeper was fined in the raid. Some fish were seized. Representatives of Directorate of Agriculture Extension, Directorate of Livestock, Directorate of Fisheries, Dhaka North City Corporation and Directorate of Agricultural Marketing participated in the campaign.
