The Patuakhali District Commissioner has declared the nomination paper of the candidate for the post of chairman in the Dumki Upazila Parishad election, Advocate Md Mehedi Hasan Mizan, as valid. This Sunday morning in Patuakhali Deputy Commissioner’s conference room, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Jadav Sarkar verified the nomination papers and declared the nomination papers of Advocate Mo Mehedi Hasan Mizan valid. Advocate Mehedi Hasan Mizan, former vice-president of Central Chhatra League, former student leader of Jagannath University, chairman of Payra Ceramic Industries Ltd. and managing partner of Payra Shopping Point Complex, prominent businessman and chairman candidate in the last upazila parishad election, created a stir. Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Sajedul Islam Sajal, District Senior Election Officer Abir Sahnur Khan along with competing candidates from various upazilas and their supporters were present in the nomination paper verification ceremony.
It should be noted that the total number of voters in Dumki Upazila consisting of 5 unions is 71 thousand 755. Among them, 36 thousand 170 male voters and 35 thousand 585 female voters. Dumki Upazila Parishad elections will be held in the third phase on May 29.
