Madaripur reserved seats as female MPs, two local MPs Shajahan Khan and Dr. Abdus Sobhan Golap got the support of Madaripur Sadar Upazila Parishad Women Vice Chairman Mosa Nargis Akhtar.
He received this support at the Madaripur Sadar Upazila Awami League special representative meeting on Tuesday (November 14) afternoon. Although for a long time, Nargis Akhtar was in discussion about becoming a woman MP in the reserved seat in the upcoming elections.
Nargis Akhter has been serving as the President of Madaripur District Youth Women’s League for a long time apart from the Women’s Vice Chairman of Madaripur Sadar Upazila Parishad. Nargis Akhtar is also involved in various social organizations and activities.
Shajahan Khan, a member of the presidium of Bangladesh Awami League and Member of Parliament of Madaripur-2 Constituency, spoke as the chief guest in the special representative meeting of Madaripur Sadar Upazila Awami League.
Supporting Nargis Akhtar, he said, Nargis Akhtar has played a role in politics as well as social activities for a long time. She has been elected as the Women Vice Chairman by a huge vote of the people. Although there are many other women leaders, Nargis Akhtar is ahead of them. Party leaders supported him. So I also supported him.
Madaripur-3 Constituency Member of Parliament with support in the same tone. Abdus Sobhan Golap said, Nargis Akhtar is known in various social fields apart from being a female leader. We want to support him for this reason. Hopefully, he will get support from the team as well.
Expressing gratitude to all the guests at the special meeting of Awami League, Mosa Nargis Akhtar said, I am associated with politics since my student life. I have always been by the side of ordinary helpless people in their happiness and sorrow. I have been, am and will continue to be a servant of the people if I get the support of all of you.
Nargis Akhtar said, I trust our leader Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Follow his example. I never did anything against his opinion. I will not do it in the future. So I believe you will give me an opportunity to work for the people.
It should be noted that Youth Women’s League leader Nargis Akhtar has been associated with Awami League politics for more than two decades. She became the president of Madaripur Sadar Jubo Mahila League in 2004. After that in 2009 Madaripur District Jubo Mahila League Senior Vice President and since 2022 he has been serving as President. Nargis Akhter participated in the Madaripur Sadar Upazila Parishad elections for the first time in 2019 and was elected after defeating her closest rival Parveen Jahan by 36 thousand 300 votes.
