The Narcotics Control Department has arrested a female drug dealer named Panna Akhter (40) while selling Yaba under the guise of seeing a doctor in Maijdi, Sadar Upazila of Noakhali. During this, 150 pieces of Yaba and two mobile phones used in the drug trade were seized from her.
Subrata Sarkar Shuvo, Deputy Director of the District Narcotics Control Department, confirmed the matter yesterday (March 8) morning. Earlier, she was arrested in a raid in front of Metro Hospital on Maijdi Hospital Road in the upazila around 8 pm yesterday Saturday.
The arrested woman is the daughter of the deceased Abdul Gafur of Haji Bari area of ​​Rasulpur village in Amishapara union of Sonaimuri upazila of Panna district.
According to the sources of the operation, a team of the District Narcotics Control Department stationed itself there based on secret information that Yaba was being bought and sold in the Hospital Road area of ​​Maijdi town. At that time, when the woman came there under the guise of seeing a doctor to sell Yaba, law enforcement members conducted an operation posing as a buyer. Later, Panna was arrested with 150 pieces of Yaba red-handed. Subrata Sarkar Shuvo, Deputy Director of the Noakhali District Narcotics Control Department, said that the woman had been dealing drugs in the area under disguise. As a result, a novel strategy was adopted to catch her with drugs. At one stage, she was arrested by posing as a buyer. A regular case under the Narcotics Control Act is being filed at Sudharam Police Station in this incident.
