A mother was tragically murdered by her mentally ill son in Jhalakathi Sadar Upazila. The incident took place in the Baidarapar Mollah Bari area of ​​Sadar Upazila around 1:30 pm on Sunday.
The deceased woman’s name is Shefali Begum (62). The accused son is Sagar (32), father is Ahmed Khan. He is the youngest of three siblings.
Neighbor Nannu Khan, after learning about the matter at around 1:30 pm, informed the Jhalakathi Sadar Police Station police. According to locals, Sagar was suffering from mental illness and had been behaving abnormally since before.
Abdul Khalek Khan, a resident of the next house, said that Sagar often beat his mother. Another neighbor, Sahida Akhter, said that during the incident, the mentally ill Sagar took a machete and hacked her mother. When Shefali Begum screamed, people around rushed to see her lying in a bloody state.
Upon receiving the information, Jhalakathi Sadar Police Station OC (Investigation) Md. Belayet Hossain arrived at the scene. He said that the body of the deceased will be sent for autopsy after initial examination. Necessary legal action is being taken in this incident.
