Mobile court raids illegal sand pit in Brahmanbaria, fines Tk 1 Crore

A mobile court has collected a fine of Tk 1 million from a person involved in operating an illegal sand pit in Nabinagar, Brahmanbaria.
Assistant Commissioner and Senior Executive Magistrate of the District Commissioner’s Office, Manas Chandra Das, conducted this mobile court in Shyamgram Union of Nabinagar Upazila on Wednesday afternoon as part of his duty to maintain law and order.
He said that during the operation of the mobile court, illegal sand mining was seen in the non-scheduled area next to the Nasirabad Sand Pit in that union. This is a clear violation of Section 11 of the Sand Pit and Soil Management Act, 2010. Dalim Mia (34), son of Md. Mintu Mia of Nasirabad village, who was accused under Section 15(1) of the same act for violating the section, was found guilty and sentenced to a fine of Tk 10 lakh, in default of which he was sentenced to 5 months of imprisonment without work.
The executive magistrate running the mobile court said that the fine was collected immediately.
