Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that despite the demand of passengers, the number of metro rail carriages will not increase. But the frequency (pause) time will be reduced. The Minister said this in response to the questions of the journalists after the meeting with Alexander V. Mantitsky, the Ambassador of Russia appointed to Bangladesh at the Secretariat on Monday (February 12). Metrorail has brought a great advantage in terms of communication. Now people have a lot of pressure, many people can’t get up. In that case, there is a discussion that whether the facility can be increased by increasing the number of trains by reducing the frequency, the minister said, we can start metrorail in Bangladesh, it was like a dream for us even a few years ago. Metro is not Bangladesh Railway, when the coaches can be increased. A change can be made when then. No country in the world has more than five metro compartments. We already have six working here. He said, ‘It is a technological matter. It is not an ordinary railway… I am surprised, some newspaper editorials have written that metro rail compartments should be increased. There is no chance to increase it more. There is a system to reduce the frequency to two minutes,” said Obaidul Quader.
