Anwar Hossain Howladar, the present mayor of Patuakhali’s Kuakata Municipality, has been accused of demolishing the walls of Kuakata Ilisha Park Eco-resort. Ruman Imtiaz Tushar, managing director of Ilisha Park Eco-Resort, held a press conference with this complaint in the hall of Kuakata Press Club at 10 am on Sunday (April 9). Tushar complained and said that since I was outside the area on April 5, a group of people led by his nephew Abubakar, the current mayor, broke the wall of Ilisha Park with hammers and abused. After hearing this news, I called some local people including some of my brothers. They quickly came and protested and stopped the vandalism. Later, when the mayor and local councilor Moni came to the scene, I called the mayor and asked why this is happening? Then he said I don’t know. He also said that when I asked councilor Monir after returning from Dhaka, Monir said that the mayor said that the road will go from here. I told that the whole road was given to me. If necessary, I will take it from the neighboring land owners, but without informing me, why was my establishment attacked by outsiders after dawn, why was it abused? Tushar complained and said, even after I gave the entire land of the road taken from the side of my park, this is his coercion. Kuakata Municipal Mayor Md. Anwar Hossain Howlada denied the complaint and said that the work of widening the road is going on. With the permission of Mr. Tushar to whom he has sold the land, some of the structures are being removed and road widening is being done.
