Man killed in bus-motorcycle collision in Nabinagar

A young man named Shamim (25) was killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a motorcycle in Nabinagar of Brahmanbaria. (Innalillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajyun). Another young man, Masud (24), was seriously injured in the incident. Shamim’s father Zahirul Islam and the father of the injured fisherman Khokon Mia. Both of them live in Palpara area of the 8th Ward of Nabinagar municipality. The tragic accident took place in Dolabari area of the 8th ward of the municipality of Nabinagar-Companyganj road around 10pm on Thursday (January 16th).

According to eyewitnesses, Shamim’s motorcycle collided with a passenger bus of marginal transport leaving Chittagong. Shamim died on the spot due to the intensity of the collision, which made the hearts of the locals heavy. On information, police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and recovered the body and took the injured to Nabinagar Upazila Health Complex in critical condition.

Firefighter Md. Mahbubur Rahman confirmed the incident. On duty at the upazila health complex, Dr. Roksana said Shamim was taken to the hospital where he was declared a spot dead. The injured are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The incident has plunged the area into a state of mourning. The entire area of Palpara has become heavy due to the tears of the relatives and the pain of colleagues and neighbours
