Students are holding a surprise protest program from 10 am to 1 pm on Saturday (July 26) from the city’s Patta Gudam to Kachari Road.
This has caused widespread suffering and hardship among pedestrians as traffic on both sides of the road has been blocked.
Sources said that Huzur Maulana Azizul Haque of Borrchar was expelled from the madrasa a few days ago on charges of child rape and extorting money from the madrasa students. But the current Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Mufidul Alam, who is the president of the madrasa management committee, investigated the allegations and withdrew the expulsion order of Maulana Azizul Haque. At the same time, Mufti Mofazzal Haque was expelled from the post of teacher and Mufti Sarwar Hossain was removed from the post of vice-principal of the madrasa and from the management committee. Angry at this news, the students protested in the madrasa premises since this morning and protested the DC’s decision. But since the administration did not respond to this issue, at 10 am, the students took a position on the Patgudam to Kachari road adjacent to the madrasa and raised slogans against the DC.
Agitating madrasa students Towhidul Islam and Nazmus Shakib told Manabkanth that a group of people took a stand in favor of expelled teacher Azizul Haque and accused our elder brother (Abdul Haque) of nepotism and ignored the main incident before the DC. The DC, influenced by this, took the side of the expelled teacher who was abusing children and unjustly expelled Mufti Mofazzal Haque. At the same time, our vice-principal Mufti Sarwar Hossain was removed from his post and the madrasa management committee by abusing his power. In addition, the DC has insulted and humiliated our brothers. If the DC does not immediately reverse its decision, we will be forced to go on a tougher movement.
Sources said that the madrasa’s senior cleric, Maulana Abdul Haque, has ignored the rules and established a dynasty to maintain dominance in the institution. This is mainly why Maulana Abdul Haque has had several conflicts with the management committee.
However, despite multiple attempts to contact the District Commissioner (DC) Md. Mufidul Alam and Maulana Abdul Haque, their statements could not be obtained.
