Upazila Awami League treasurer and prominent social worker Lokman Hossain Howladar has submitted his nomination papers for the post of Chairman in Manpura Union Parishad No. 1 election in Manpura Upazila of Bhola. There is a mood of celebration throughout the upazila’s No. 1 Manpura Union focusing on the first phase election announced by the commission. He submitted his nomination papers with hundreds of voters-supporters in a festive atmosphere.
Today Monday (February 12) at 12 noon, he came to the upazila election office and submitted his nomination papers. Election Returning Officer and Upazila Election Officer Animesh Kumar Basu of Manpura Union Parishad No. 1 of the upazila received the nomination papers.
Former Commander of Upazila Freedom Fighters Command Council and Vice President of Upazila Awami League, Vir Mukti Joddha Abdul Latif Bhuiyan, former Manpura Union Chairman Kashem Howladar, Upazila Awami League Propaganda Secretary Assistant Professor Md Chalah Uddin, Prominent Fish Trader and Awami League Leader Harun Patwari, Upazila Jubo League Organizing Secretary were present. Babul Matabbar, Jubo League leader Noman Faraji, Ripon Miah, Samsuddin Miah, prominent businessman Shaon Howladar, Rubel Howladar, Ziad Howladar and Ward No. 5 candidate Abdul Quader among others.
Also, several member candidates of two unions have submitted their nomination papers since morning. In the schedule announced by the Election Commission, the first phase of UP elections will be held in the two union parishads of Manpura and Kaltali in this upazila on March 9.
Although there is an opportunity to submit nomination papers after the announcement of the schedule, the candidates collected the forms and prepared the documents and started submitting the nomination papers from February 11. Nomination papers will be submitted till February 13 next Tuesday. The election office said that the candidates will be given a plaque after the verification of the temperature.
