“He saved his life in the hotel, Liton Chandra Ghosh.”

A hotel trader named Liton Chandra Ghosh (55) was killed in a brutal attack by his opponent while trying to save his shop employee from beating him in Kaliganj, Gazipur. The killing took place at Vaishakhi Sweetmeet and Hotel adjacent to Barnagar road in Kaliganj municipality on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Liton Chandra Ghosh, son of Nirmal Chandra Ghosh of Chandaya area of the upazila.
According to police, witnesses and the family of the deceased, Masum Mia, son of Mohammad Swapan Mia of Baligaon area, went to the hotel this morning. Masum’s speech and frustration began with the hotel’s employee Ananta Das (17) over the loss of a banana rod. On information, Masum’s father Swapan Mia (55) and mother Majeda Khatun (45) came to the spot and started beating.
At that time, the attackers went up to Liton Chandra Ghosh to save his employee and calm the situation. At one point, he was hit in the head with a heavy shovel and fell unconscious on the spot. Later, he was rushed to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead. Imran Hossain declared him dead.
After the incident, the local people arrested the accused Swapan Mia, his wife Majeda Khatun and son Masum Mia and handed him over to the police. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Kaliganj police station Md. Confirming the incident, Zakir Hossain said, “On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control and took the three accused into custody. The body of the deceased has been recovered and a murder case is underway.”
The death of the staunch trader has caused deep shock and anger among the businessmen in the area. The local business community has demanded speedy trial of the brutal murder and exemplary punishment of the culprits
