Teesta and Dharla rivers are flowing above danger level at Lalmonirhat. As a result, people’s houses and crops have been submerged in the flood water. Millions of people are trapped in water. Due to heavy rains and upstream hill slopes, the waters of Teesta and Dharla in the district are flowing above the danger level. The authorities have already opened 44 sluices of Teesta Barrage to handle the water pressure. Since the night, the people on both sides of the river have been suffering because of the water coming from upstream. There is a shortage of drinking water and dry food for the people of these regions
On 24-8-2023, Upazila Chairman Sujan went to see the sufferings of the water-bound people on the ground. During this time, he distributed dry food among the flood affected people of Khuniagach Union and assured the cooperation of the flood victims. He said- Lalmonirhat district administration will always be by your side.
Finally, in all natural calamities including floods, a public representative is seen on the side of the people. He is Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Kamruzzaman Sujon. Move forward at breakneck speed, good wishes always. Others will also be inspired and stand by the people, such is the hope of the district residents.
