A two-day book fair was held at the Shibram Adarsh Public School premises in Lalmonirhat district town with the spontaneous participation of teachers, students and guardians.
On January 19 (Monday) at 11 am, it was seen on the spot that the students were present around the stalls of the book fair in a lively and joyful manner. Some were turning the pages with colorful covers in their hands, while others were sitting on the floor and reading books with deep attention. Story books, rhymes, moral education, general knowledge and children’s literature particularly attracted the students.
At the fair, many students were discussing books with friends, some were showing their favorite books to their guardians and asking them to buy them. Learning new words by looking at the pages of books, trying to understand stories through pictures – all in all, the book fair became a joyful gathering of children’s curiosity, imagination and knowledge.
Teachers and guardians also helped students select books and encouraged them to increase their interest in reading books. The entire fair was filled with the joy of reading, the excitement of learning and a sincere bond between children and books.
One of the attractions of the book fair was the children’s corner. The participation of young students in this corner decorated with books suitable for children aged 2 to 12 was remarkable. Organized under the management of the social and voluntary organization ‘Disha’ and a joint initiative of Aloghar Publications, this book fair has garnered praise from students, teachers and guardians.
About the book fair, Rashedul Islam Rashed, founder and director of the school, said, ‘In addition to textbooks, various types of books including rhymes, stories, and drawing books are very important for the intellectual and mental development of children. To reduce children’s addiction to mobile phones and gadgets, books must be given to them. Children learn from their parents and the environment around them. Therefore, every parent should reduce the use of gadgets and spend time with their children reading books.
Md. Soef Mia, representative of Aloghar Publications, said that they want to further expand this initiative to bring books to the readers.
It is worth noting that Shibram Adarsh Public School is one of the renowned educational institutions in Lalmonirhat district. In addition to regularly encouraging students in creative activities, the school authorities take various initiatives to make teaching enjoyable through cultural practices, sports and co-curricular activities. The institution has also been regularly organizing exceptional events to instill the habit of reading books among children.
