A schoolgirl named Sumi Akhter (15) died of snake bite in Dalgram Union of Kaliganj Upazila of Lalmonirhat.The girl died on the way to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex on Wednesday (October 11) morning.
Sumi is the daughter of Usman Ali of that neighborhood. He was a class nine student of Chaparhat High School. According to the family of the deceased, a poisonous snake bit Sumi’s right hand finger while sleeping in her bed on Tuesday night. At that time, when Sumi screamed, her family members came running.
But the poison spread in Sumi’s body due to the snake bite, but the family members did not understand it and tried to cure it by sweeping it. Later, when her condition deteriorated, Sumi died on the way to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex on Wednesday morning.
Sumi’s grandfather Zainal Abedin said, “We did not understand that Sumi was bitten by a snake.” Because at night he was just talking about what bit his finger. Later Sumi could not move her body due to pain in her body. He was delayed in taking him to the hospital due to pain. He became very ill in the morning and died on the way to the hospital in the morning.
In this regard, Dalgram Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Iqbal Hossain confirmed the truth of the incident.
