Lalmonirhat Sanatani protests at against attacks, vandalism, arson and looting of minorities

In the ongoing situation, human chain and protest marches and protest rallies were held in Lalmonirhat on the charges of attacks, vandalism, arson and looting on the Hindu community in various parts of the country including Lalmonirhat.  On Sunday (August 11) at noon, a protest meeting and protest march was organized by the Hindu community at the center of the district, Missionmor Gol Chattar.

In this program organized by Sanatani Hindus of Lalmonirhat district, Puja Celebration Committee President Hira Lal Roy, Secretary Pradeep Chandra, Hindu, Buddhist, Christian Unity Parishad Leader Vidhubhushan Roy, ISKCON President and leaders and activists of Hindu Mahazot spoke.  Speakers said, this soil is ours, we are citizens of this country.  It is the property of our forefathers.  We no longer want to be strangers in our own homes.  We don’t want to go anywhere.  Recalling the incident of attacks on people of their religion in 1971, the speakers said that there should be immediate security of torture on the Hindu community across the country.

They congratulated the interim government and demanded an immediate end to attacks and torture on minorities.  The people of the Hindu community have played a role in the establishment of independent Bangladesh shoulder to shoulder with everyone in the language movement of 1952 and the great liberation war of 1971.  In every movement of the country, even in the latest anti-discrimination student movement, the boys and girls of the Hindu community are working to build a discrimination-free Bangladesh with spontaneous participation.  Why communal attacks are being carried out after doing so much.  During the speech, the leaders called upon everyone to stand united and resist the criminals.  He also expects the cooperation of the leaders and workers of all parties.  Later, Lalmonirhat Municipal Mayor Rezaul Karim Swapan and BNP leader AKM Mominul Haque addressed the rally and expressed solidarity.

At the end of the two-hour-long human chain and rally program, the agitators (Sanatnis) took a procession and left for the city’s Goshala Bazar temple.  When the procession reached the North Bengal Mor area of ​​the city, miscreants pelted stones from the roof of a building there.  At least three people were injured.  At that time, tension spread in the procession and the protesters attacked and vandalized the building.  On receiving the information, the army rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Earlier in the morning, people from the Hindu community from different parts of the district started gathering at the Mission Mor square with different slogans.  At one time, the people of Missionmore area became depopulated.  The Lalmonirhat-Rangpur highway was jammed after hundreds of vehicles were jammed with people.
