In Aditmari Upazila of Lalmonirhat, miscreants killed a driver named Rashedul Islam Rashed (45) by slitting his throat and took away his battery operated rickshaw. On Monday (August 21) afternoon, the police recovered the body of Rashed from under Dakat Para Bridge of Sarpukur Union of the upazila.
Deceased Rashedul Islam is the son of Khorshed Alam of Araji Deodoba Balapara village of Vadai Union of Rashed Upazila.
According to the police, Rashed used to run a family by driving a rickshaw. Like every day, he went out with a rickshaw on Sunday and did not return home. On Monday morning, locals saw his body floating in Swarnamati river under the Dakat Para Bridge of Sarpukur Union and informed the police.
Later, Aditmari police station recovered the body and sent it to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. On the back of his head and on his neck are two stab wounds. It is believed that the passenger miscreants hacked Rashed to death in a secluded area of the bridge, dumped the body in the river and fled in a rickshaw. There are blood marks on the bridge.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Aditmari Police Station Mozammel Haque said that the police have entered the field to identify those involved in the murder and bring them under the law.
