Lalmonirhat Patgram border in Youth killed in BSF firing

A youth named Yusuf Ali (25) was killed in firing by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Patgram border in Lalmonirhat.  The incident took place on the border of sub-pillar 857 of Kalirhat border of Jagatab union of Patgram upazila in the early hours of Monday (June 5).

The deceased Yusuf Ali is the son of Shaha Jamal of village Meser Danga of Jagatab Union of Patgram Upazila of Lalmonirhat.

Locals said that some people tried to cross Indian cows through the Kalirhat area of ​​Jagatber union on the main pillar number 857 of India-Bangladesh border.  At this time, members of the patrol team of Mirrapa camp of Raninagar BSF battalion of Indian 169 Mekhligonj fired at the cattle crossing between India and Bangladesh.  Yusuf Ali was shot and killed there.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Patgram police station Omar Farooq said that the police have been sent to the house of the deceased Yusuf.  He also said that this matter will be informed later after investigation.

The commander of Border Guard Bangladesh Teesta Battalion-2 (61 BGB) Lt. Col. Sheikh Mohammad Musahid Masum confirmed the matter and said that the BOP camp was contacted after hearing the matter.  Besides, a flag meeting will be held between the India-Bangladesh border guarding forces to find out why the firing took place.
