A journalist named Yunus Ali (48) was killed on Dhaka Burimari highway in Sarpukur union of Aditmari upazila of Lalmonirhat.
Deceased journalist Yunus Ali has worked in several news media, including Voice of Daily Times. He served as the President of Reportas Unity of Lalmonirhat until his death.
General Secretary Mujibul Haque Chunnu and party central leaders along with party chief GM Quader (MP) were the chief guests at the bi-annual meeting of Lalmonirhat district Jatiya Party on Saturday (September 16). He came to Lalmonirhat from Hatibandha in the district to collect news on the occasion.
He was crushed by the wheels of the Dhaka-20120 truck at around 9:00 pm while returning to his home in Hatibandha after fulfilling his professional duties. In this, he died on the spot. The killer driver and his assistant fled.
After receiving the news, journalists from all levels of the district arrived at the accident site and stopped all traffic on the Dhaka-Burimari highway for an indefinite period. So far, no responsible officials have attended the spot except Aditmari police and fire brigade members.
