A one-and-a-half-year-old child named Aspia died after falling into the canal near the house in Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat.
The incident took place in Telipara area of Singimari village of the upazila on Tuesday morning. She is the daughter of Alamgir Hossain of that area.
Locals said that while playing next to the house, he suddenly fell into a canal. Later he was rescued and taken to a local hospital where the doctor declared him dead.
Singimari UP Chairman Manowar Hossain Dulu confirmed the truth of the incident.
