Eight members of the same family, including children, were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and easy bike in Lalmonirhat. The accident occurred at the BGB Canteen intersection in Lalmonirhat town on morning.
The injured were identified as Mohammad Babar Ali, 45, Nur Banu, 38, Aynal Haque, 77, Rabbani, 48, Khaimala, 60, China Begum, 40, Quddus, 45, and Asia, 45, of Nithak Sahebpara village in Kaliganj upazila. They are members of the same family.
Police and eyewitnesses said that a bus named Tisha Paribahan was plying at the intersection of the Lalmonirhat BGB Canteen intersection. At that time, it collided head-on with an easy bike carrying passengers coming from Sialkhowa in Kaliganj upazila. At that time, the easy bike was crushed by the bus.
Eight passengers on the easy bike were injured. Local people rescued the injured and first admitted them to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital. From there, doctors transferred three of them to Rangpur Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Ziaul Hasan Shiplu, Resident Medical Officer of Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital, said that out of the eight injured in the accident, three were sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital as their condition was serious.
In this regard, Abdul Matin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station, said that the bus has been seized and kept at the Lalmonirhat police outpost. However, the bus driver and assistant are absconding.
