 The High Court has ruled that the nomination papers of independent candidate SM Shafiqur Rahman Mushfiq in Khulna City Corporation (KCC) elections are valid. After the hearing on Sunday (May 28), High Court Judge Zafar Ahmed and Justice Md. A bench comprising Bashir Ullah passed the order. As a result, Mushfiqur was no longer prevented from participating in the election. Mushfiqur’s lawyer SM Mahabubul Islam said that the High Court has ordered to give this independent candidate a chance to participate in the election by accepting nomination papers and allocating symbols. Mushfiq is excited to get back the candidacy. He said, getting back my candidature means the victory of the people. Earlier on Thursday (May 18) Mushfiqur’s candidacy was declared invalid due to incorrect information of the support of 300 supporting voters. Alauddin. Among them 2 lakh 66 thousand 696 female voters and 2 lakh 68 thousand 833 male voters. Polling will be held in Khulna City Corporation in the second phase on June 12. Voting will be done through EVMs. CCTV cameras will be installed in front of 289 centers and 1 thousand 732 polling booths to ensure fair environment.
