Rehana Parveen, wife of late renowned school teacher Mofizur Rahman, a resident of Shimrail village in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria district, has passed away.
Last Saturday (May 20) he breathed his last at his residence in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi around 11:30 am. He was suffering from old age complications. He was 77 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by three sons, one daughter and numerous relatives and well-wishers.
Rehana Parveen’s Janaza was held at Dhanmondi Taqwa Mosque after Asr Namaz on Saturday and her body was buried in the family graveyard after Janaza in the second Namaz at North Para Eidgah ground of Shimrail village on Sunday morning.
Rehana Parveen’s late husband Mofizur Rahman was an exemplary model teacher of Jamsherpur High School in Mehari Union of Kasba Upazila. During his career as a teacher, he never took public holiday pay and deposited it in the institution’s poor fund.
Under pressure from the locals, he was elected as the chairman of the Union Parishad in 1992 and won by a huge margin. But three years after taking charge as chairman, he resigned from the post of UP chairman after observing and condemning the activities of other members of the council. Since then his name and reputation spread in the greater Comilla district as an honest man.
