‘July Martyrs’ Day’ was celebrated in Jhalokathi with due dignity and through various programs.
The day’s program began at 10 am by placing a wreath at the July Martyrs’ Memorial at the initiative of the district administration. At this time, representatives of the district administration, district police, various government departments, political, social and cultural organizations paid tribute to the martyrs. Later, a discussion meeting held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner was attended by senior administration officials, family members of the July martyrs, July fighters, representatives of political parties, journalists and representatives of civil society. The speakers said that the sacrifices of the martyrs of the July movement will be remembered forever in the struggle to establish democracy and human rights in the country. They called on everyone to work together to build a non-discriminatory, democratic and humane Bangladesh by adopting their ideals.
