Joint coordination meeting of Wagga 41 BGB and Kaptai Sena Zone to ensure free and peaceful elections

Rabiul Hossain Chowdhury Ripon: A special coordination meeting has been held in Kaptai Wagga Zone of Rangamati to ensure that the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections are held in a free, fair and peaceful environment. The meeting was organized at the Kaptai Battalion (41 BGB) headquarters at 11:30 am on Tuesday (January 27) at the initiative of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Kaptai Sena Zone.
In the meeting, the BGB, army and police administration announced a strict stance to maintain law and order during the elections and prevent any untoward incident. Detailed plans have been taken to strengthen security measures, especially in border areas and remote zones.
The meeting was attended by Kaptai Battalion (41 BGB) Commander Lt. Col. Kawsar Mehdi, Signals, Kaptai Army Zone Commander Lt. Col. Md. Nazmul Qadir Shuvo (PSC), Kaptai Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Zahidul Islam, Major Md. S. Arfin, Deputy Commander Major Farhad Un Naeem, Upazila Election Officer Mita Parial, Kaptai Assistant Commissioner (Land) Nelli Rudra, Company Commander Md. Sajid of 35 Ansar Battalion, Captain Ashraf, Captain Labib of 10 R Battalion and senior officials of BGB, Army, Police and Ansar forces.
The meeting mainly focused on 12 important issues related to the elections.
1. Control of law and order in the areas under Waggachhara and Kaptai Zone,
2. Providing all-out support to the government in organizing free and fair elections,
3. Recovery of illegal weapons and arrest of armed persons,
4. Strict measures to stop illegal extortion,
5. Maintaining communal harmony,
6. Formation of election committees at various levels,
7. Formation of Upazila Monitoring Cell,
8. Identification of risky polling stations and ensuring security,
9. Strict implementation of the election code of conduct,
10. List and training of presiding and assistant presiding officers,
11. Activities of the Judicial Magistrate Committee,
12. Ban and control on vehicle movement on election day.
The speakers at the meeting said, “All forces will work shoulder to shoulder to ensure the people’s right to vote and to keep the election environment stable. No kind of chaos or irregularities will be tolerated.
The representatives of the upazila administration assured that all necessary preparations are being made at the field level so that voters can go to the centers without any hindrance and exercise their right to vote on election day.
