Like every year, we have bumper crop in Jhalkathi. This year’s amra prices are also getting high. The prices are also good as they can quickly export to different areas of the country by crossing the Padma Bridge. That is why we farmers have a smile on their faces. Jhalkathi’s delicious amra is famous across the country. This monsoon season fruit is one of the sources of income for many local people. Amra produced in this district is supplied not only to Dhaka but to almost all districts of the country. The demand is increasing day by day. Amara businessmen say that communication with the capital has become easier due to the launch of Padma Bridge. Along with that, fresh fruits are reaching big cities including Dhaka within 3 to 4 hours. And amra farmers and traders are getting good profit from it. The weather and climate of Jhalkathi, a small district in southern township, is suitable for amra cultivation. As a result, the production of Amra is also very good. The amra here is quite large in size and very tasty to eat. The fruit of each tree is sold for 3 to 6 thousand rupees depending on the quality. On the other hand, its yield is obtained without any care and fertilizers and pesticides. A lot of Amra is sold on the road in addition to the market during the season. Amra has also made its place as a cash crop in this district. As a result, the interest of farmers in amra cultivation is increasing day by day, cultivation and production have increased in the district. Meanwhile, since the Padma Bridge was launched last year, the supply of agricultural products in Barisal region has become easier. Fresh agriculture is reaching different districts of the country in a very short time. The reputation of Guava and Amra in Jhalkathi district has spread abroad. Jhalakathi traders are benefiting from this. According to the information of the District Agriculture Office, 10,000 tons of Amra have been produced in 500 hectares of land in the district this year. Agriculture office claims that the yield of Amra will increase next year, that initiative has been taken. It should be noted that all the areas of 32 unions and two municipalities in Jhalkathi district belong to Amra.
